Really sustainable?
The word sustainable is everywhere these days. And that sounds like good news — but what does it actually mean? There are no rules for when something can be called sustainable, and everyone seems to understand it differently. As a result, the word is quickly used vaguely or misleadingly.
We do not believe that selling products can ever be truly sustainable, which is why we deliberately avoid using that term.
What we do? Take responsibility. We do our best to cause as little damage to the planet as possible. We are not perfect — and we never will be. And that is a good thing, because that is precisely where our drive to keep improving lies.
We are on our way. And we are committed every day to making conscious choices and reducing our impact. For the short term, we have chosen three concrete challenges with which we want to realize real, measurable change.

♻️ Recycled materials
Some parts of our products are already made from recycled materials. But that is not enough for us. Our goal: by 2026, our entire collection will consist of at least 90% recycled materials.
🌱 Green factory
At the moment our production is not yet running on green energy. Together with our manufacturer we are working on having all our products produced on green energy by 2027 at the latest.
🔄 Circularity
Our biggest goal: full circularity. This means that we want to reuse 100% of our materials from old products for new ones. We aim to achieve this completely by 2026.
Climate neutral
At CleanKoala, we do everything we can to reduce our CO₂ emissions as much as possible. Unfortunately, producing without emissions is not possible — that's why we offset what's left.
Together with our partner Gold Standard, we support certified projects that contribute to restoring the CO₂ balance.
Reducing will always be more important to us than offsetting. As long as we still emit, we take responsibility and continue to take steps to reduce that impact.
Recyclable
Our products are packaged completely plastic-free. The cardboard used is 99% recyclable and largely made from recycled material. Only 1% is not, to ensure the quality of the packaging.
The inside is also plastic-free: both the product and the accessories are protected with paper. In this way, we limit our impact and take steps towards truly sustainable packaging.
